Traveling to Peru
Most of the Ayahuasca Retreats, like Nihue Rao Centro Espiritual, are far out in the Amazon where electricity is not available 24 hours a day. A challenge for me was what to bring. Luckily I was guided by my friends who had gone before me. I'd like to prepare you so you have everything you need on your travels.
WHERE TO GO FOR CEREMONIES
Nihue Rao Central Espiritual is an amazing center located in Iquitos, Peru. There are an all inclusive retreat. You don't have to worry about a thing. Peru is a tropical region. One minute it will be bright and sunny, the next it will be pouring rain. Rain boots are perfect and easy to slip on and off.
Stick to the natural stuff. You are there to cleanse so no point in putting chemicals on your body and around other people. BADGER BALM ANTI-BUG SPRAY is amazing! It smells great and doesn't leave a sticky residue. It's make with essential oils and 100% deet free. Amazon sells it for $10.95.
There isn't alway electricity in the Amazon. It get very dark at night. A small flash light that you can put in your pocket is perfect. This one is great and is only $24.99.
IMPORTANT: Get a flashlight that comes with different colored lenses or lights. When you're walking around in the malokah during ceremony using the colored light is key so as not to disturb others while their having their visions.
Because of the humidity it is important to store all your paper goods (money, passports, books, etc.) in zip lock bags so they do not fray or collect mold.
At night time you will live by candle light so lighters are needed.
Have an amazing journey!
